My poor babies

My poor babies are sick. And let me tell you friends, when my babies are sick the whole world comes to a stop. I get NOTHING done. There is a lot of crying, boogers and coughing. They both have icky noses, fevers and coughs. Not fun for anyone! Well mostly me because I am the one taking care of the little guys.

We ended up not getting much done in the bathroom yesterday, but today we finally got the tile down! Tomorrow we grout, paint, then hopefully get the toilet and vanity back in and we will actually have ourselves a functioning bathroom on our main floor again (its such a pain having to go all the way upstairs!)

Hopefully you are all having a better week than my poor babies are so far. I will post pictures once the bathroom is complete :)

Question for you!

So I was thinking tonight about how we need to get Sam's crib set up, he has officially outgrown his co-sleeper (not looking forward to having to actually get OUT of the bed to get him). While I was thinking about this, I started dreaming about the day that I will be confident enough of his ability to sleep through the night to put him in with Joshua. This got me thinking about what the average age is that people move their babies out of their rooms and into the "nursery". So How old were your babies when they ventured off on their own?

Joshua was about 4 months old when he left his playpen in our room and started sleeping in his crib, I tell myself it was because his crib wasn't set up, but honestly if I really wanted him out sooner I could have gotten it ready. I just wanted my baby right by me :) Now with Sam it's a little different, I'm pretty sure if we had a 3 bedroom house he would already be in his own room. Most nights (like 5 nights a week at least) he sleeps from 9-6, eats and goes back to sleep until 8ish. I just don't wanna take the chance of him having a bad night and then having two screaming boys at two a.m. instead of just one.

I don't think your answers are gonna change my plan to wait until he sleeps through the night all the time but I am just curious what you all did and how it worked out for you :) I hope you all had a great weekend, I will have a little update on our stinky bathroom tomorrow, and hopefully it will be much further than it is now.

Operation De-Stink the bathroom

Ever since we moved into our cute little 2 bedroom, 2 bath town home in the middle if January our downstairs bathroom has had the faint smell of cat. Nasty, nasty cat.

A few weeks ago we had our air ducts cleaned, hoping that would totally get rid of the smell and we could live happily ever after. No such luck. If anything, the smell has gotten worse since we had the ducts cleaned. Not exactly how we planned for that to work out, but the house sat empty for a while before we moved in and we wanted to get them cleaned anyways so it wasn't a complete waste of money.

Ryan decided on Friday afternoon to take the trim off to see if that would get rid of the smell. Instead, he removed the trim and just about threw up when he discovered the yellow, urine covered wall, trim and floor that had been lurking just beneath the surface. Wonderful.

So after thinking about it, crunching some numbers and just about dying from the smell we decided it was happening this weekend. This bathroom just had to get done. So Thursday night on our date my hubby and I went to home depot and spent 477$ on bathroom stuff. Tile, grout, a vanity, all that fun (expensive) stuff.

Friday  morning Ryan tore the floor out, cut half the drywall out and pretty much gutted our cute little half bathroom. All day yesterday and today were spent slowly putting it back together.

Since these pictures were taken the drywall has been put up. So it clearly isn't useable yet, but its being put back together slowly. Hopefully tomorrow mudding and taping can get done, we can tile and possibly even paint. Ryan is working overnight tonight so he will only have half the day tomorrow to work on it, but I still have high hopes!

I'm hoping all the time and effort put into this tiny little bathroom will be worth it. I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Breaking news!!!

Today something super excited happened in our little family!! My little Sammy, at 3 months and 6 days old, rolled over from his back to his tummy!!!! Not only once, but many many times. He is pretty much a pro roller-over now. I am so not ready to have my baby grow up but it is so exciting to watch these milestones happen :) I don't have any videos yet, by the time I got my camera out he was tired and crabby. But there will definitely be videos to come.

Oh happy day!

A little trip to Wisconsin

Last Saturday Ryan's family a little family reunion. More like just a few of his MANY MANY relatives got together and had a BBQ. It was really last minute, to kind of start planning a family reunion for next year. Ryan happened to have the day off of work so we decided to take the two hour trip so the boys could see their Great Grandma and Grandpa Strickland.

So we got in the car

and ended up here

we had to make a pit stop along the way at the best meat shop we know, to get some jerkey and brats

but when we got to the lake we played and played

well, everyone except Sam that is. He slept almost the whole time we were there. But better sleeping than cranky :)

Deuce came with us too, and wore himself out chasing his ball while we were there, so he took a little nap on the way home.

I'm glad we took the trip, I'm always up for something out of the ordinary. My life is pretty much routine so I jump at a day out and about!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and have a great week coming up. We are currently in the middle of a LOOOONG string of overnights and I am on day number 3 of 7 sleeping alone. Ryan has a little weekend Thursday, Friday and Saturday and we are hoping to make it to the zoo one of those days.

3 months old

I can't believe my little Sam turned 3 months old yesterday!
I feel like just yesterday I was complaining about being pregnant still and now here he is a (very) big boy.

Here are a few facts and pictures of you Samuel James

-You have only had formula once your whole life

-You are generally a happy baby. When you aren't eating. We decided today you have acid reflux (again) and are starting an antacid that will hopefully
help you not scream when you eat.

-You've started sleeping from about 9:30-6:30 the last week or so. I love that you sleep so long, but I am NOT a morning person.

-You have an adorable little dimple on you left cheek

-You are in 6-9 month clothes and even some 12 month stuff

-At your Dr. Appointment today you weighed 18 lbs 3 oz. (99.6 percentile)

-You smile constantly and have started laughing in the last week or so

-I'm pretty sure next time we buy diapers they will be size 3

-Your brother loves you so much and always talks about you when you aren't around.

-You are definitely a Mama's boy

I love you baby boy

Joshie and Mommy

The other day Joshie and I got to go to the park by ourselves. Daddy stayed home with cranky Sam and Josh and I took the 1/2 mile walk to the park and played away.

I love when I get special time like this with Josh.

Since Sam was born we don't get a lot of 1 on 1 time so it means a lot to me when we do :)

Not so productive

Today has been a not so productive day. Here is how it has gone so far

5:55AM- Ryan jumped out of bed freaking out because his alarm didn't go off. He was supposed to be to work at 6 and we live about a half hour from where he works.
6:00 AM- A Little delayed, Sam woke up screaming.
6:05AM- Joshua woke up screaming because he couldn't find his pacifier.
6:20 AM- I give up on getting Sam back to sleep without a bottle, went downstairs and pumped so he could eat.
7:15- Sam finally decided it was a good time to go back to sleep.
7:45- Joshua woke up screaming because his pacifier fell out of the bed (Sam was still sleeping)
8:05- I gave up on Joshua going back to sleep and woke up and went downstairs to get breakfast.
8:10- Sam woke up screaming, so I ended up having to pump so he could eat AGAIN.
9:00- We finally eat breakfast.

The rest of my day has been crying babies, a sick dog, short naps and long fits being thrown. I started the dishwasher and started laundry and oddly enough, I am happy with that. Both boys are FINALLY sleeping now, I don't know how long its gonna last so I am not going to do anything! My head is pounding and I am ready for bed at 1:45 in the afternoon. Maybe I will go get my massage tonight :)

Hope you are all having a better day than I am!

Finally family pictures!

A couple weeks ago we FINALLY got family pictures done by Ria Thurston of Ri Photography. I had been wanting to do family pictures since Sam was born nearly 2 months before, but obviously I have been busy and kept forgetting!

We finally got them done and we ended up going to the fairgrounds, about 3 blocks from where I grew up. Here are a few of my favorites

Seriously I love them all and it was hard for me not to put them all on here :)

I finally am ordering pictures, and hopefully we will have them on the wall by the end of the week. Sam will be 3 months old soon, but hey, better late than never! We will probably do more pictures soon since Sam is a totally different kid already. But I love these still.

Have a great week friends

A day at the fair

Is it really already Wednesday? Where in the WORLD did this week go?

We have been busy busy! I guess the last 2 1/2 months since Sam has been born has been busy. I keep waiting for everything to slow down, but I don't know if it ever will. Well as promised here are a few pictures from our trip to the fair on Saturday. It was SO HOT so we only stayed a couple hours, and I was holding a cranky baby a lot of the time so we didn't get to many pictures. But here are a few of the ones I did get.

We had a fun time, even with a one year old who was terrified of all the animals and a newborn who just wasn't enjoying the heat and noise.
